The newly appointed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has emphasized the importance of unity among legislators to drive the state’s development.
During her inaugural plenary session on Friday, Meranda highlighted the need for collaboration across the legislative, executive, and judicial arms of government. She pledged to strengthen the independence of the legislature while maintaining transparency and accountability.
Meranda called for a review of outdated policies and a focus on critical areas such as healthcare, infrastructure, and economic growth. She also committed to robust constituency engagement to ensure that the concerns of Lagos residents are addressed effectively.
In her address, she said, “We are the guardians of the hopes, dreams, and concerns of Lagosians, and we must justify their faith in us. To deliver the dividends of democracy, we must foster cooperation and mutual respect, ensuring our legislative actions align with the executive’s vision for a better Lagos State.”
