Notorious terror leader Bello Turji has signaled his readiness to surrender as intensified military operations continue to dismantle his network. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, revealed this development during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television, noting the recent successes in targeting Turji’s operations.
Musa disclosed that the military has eliminated Turji’s second-in-command and several key lieutenants, significantly weakening his grip and prompting him to release many hostages. According to the CDS, these developments have forced the terror kingpin to reconsider his position and openly express his willingness to lay down arms.
Tracking Turji, however, remains a complex challenge for the military. Musa explained that the terrorist leader’s unpredictable movements and deep integration within local communities often result in delayed responses to intelligence reports. This complicates efforts to apprehend him or act swiftly on available leads.
Despite the progress made, General Musa stressed that justice must prevail. He emphasised that individuals responsible for acts of violence and the deaths of innocent citizens must be held accountable for their actions, irrespective of any willingness to surrender.
