A 19-year-old alleged ringleader of an armed robbery syndicate, Destiny Okpako, along with two of his associates, has been apprehended by a special team of law enforcement officers dispatched by the Delta Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, to curb the increasing criminal activities of thugs in Ughelli, Warri, and Sapele regions of the state.
Okpako, a native of Oviri-Okpe in the state, and his suspected partners, including 23-year-old Blessing Atima and 20-year-old Wisdom Akpohirowho, both residents of Jesse town in Delta State, were detained in Sapele by the authorities.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, verified the arrests in a statement released on Friday.
Edafe disclosed that a Beretta pistol, a locally crafted gun, three machetes, various mobile phones, and ATM cards were seized from the suspects.

He mentioned that the investigation was ongoing, revealing that some victims had identified the suspects and their recovered possessions, with the suspects admitting their involvement in six armed robbery incidents in Sapele.
Edafe also confirmed the capture of Usman Bello, 40, who allegedly feigned mental instability, while possessing a locally made Beretta pistol in an unfinished building along the Issele-Azagba expressway.
Furthermore, Edafe reported that the police had arrested two individuals who specialized in burglarizing shops in Asaba at night to steal valuable items.
The suspects, Amaechi Michael, 42, from Rivers State, and Ogochukwu Ogbode from Enugu State, reportedly transported their stolen goods to Port Harcourt for sale following successful raids.
“Initial inquiries indicate that after breaking into and looting the shops of their victims, they transported their loot to Port-Harcourt for sale. Investigations and endeavors to apprehend the recipients of these stolen goods are ongoing,” he concluded.
