On Monday, the Russian government announced that it had successfully intercepted and taken down 39 drones that were launched by Ukraine overnight. The drones were primarily targeting border regions of Russia.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry’s statement on Telegram, 19 drones were destroyed in the Kursk region, nine in Belgorod, three in Voronezh, and five in Bryansk.
Additionally, three drones were neutralized in the Leningrad region near Saint Petersburg in what was described as an “attempted terrorist attack”.
The attacks on Russian fuel depots, refineries, and energy facilities by Ukrainian drones are a common occurrence, especially in the border regions. On the other hand, Russia has retaliated with significant assaults on Ukraine’s power plants, leading to severe electricity shortages in recent months.
