Eti-Osa APC Chairman Warns Against Nationwide Protest, Citing Risks to Democracy and Economic Stability

Aremo Olusegun Ajani Oyindasola, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eti-Osa Local Government Area in Lagos state has called on Nigerians to reconsider their plans for a nationwide protest. He argues that such a protest could have serious negative consequences for the country, potentially disrupting both democratic progress and economic growth.

In a statement released on Monday, Oyindasola expressed his concerns about the potential fallout from a nationwide protest. He emphasized that the current administration, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is working hard to address Nigeria’s economic difficulties.

According to Oyindasola, any attempt to destabilize the country through widespread protests could be counterproductive. He warns that these protests might be taken over by troublemakers, leading to further harm to the country’s progress.

Oyindasola urged Nigerians to give President Tinubu more time to make improvements. He believes that the president has a genuine intention to address the country’s challenges and turn things around. However, he feels that a nationwide protest could create a significant distraction, potentially hindering the administration’s efforts.

Reflecting on past events, Oyindasola recalled the widespread damage caused by the EndSARS protests. He pointed out that these protests led to significant economic setbacks and discouraged potential investors. He questioned whether a new round of nationwide protests would benefit the country or simply exacerbate existing problems.

Oyindasola noted that Nigeria has faced a series of crises in recent years, including the Boko Haram insurgency, global economic downturns, and the COVID-19 pandemic. These events have contributed to the current inflation and economic difficulties.

He cautioned that another nationwide protest could lead to further instability, potentially resulting in violence and destruction. Oyindasola stressed the importance of addressing grievances through constructive dialogue rather than protests. He argued that dialogue, free from political motives, would be a more effective way to navigate the current challenges. Protests, he warned, could spiral out of control, leading to loss of lives and property.

Oyindasola also appealed to Nigerians not to blame President Tinubu for the failings of past leaders. He believes that the current president deserves the opportunity to make meaningful changes. According to Oyindasola, President Tinubu is a true democrat who is committed to improving the country, and he should be given a chance to prove himself.
