The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, and Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, are set to headline the 22nd edition of the Daily Trust Dialogue scheduled for Thursday. Themed
“Food Security: Availability or Affordability,” the event will address key challenges affecting food production, processing, and distribution in Nigeria.
In a statement by Ahmed I. Shekarau, Chief Executive Officer of Media Trust Group, it was confirmed that Speaker Tajudeen will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the event, which will take place at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja. The dialogue has a history of attracting notable personalities from Africa, including Ghana’s late former President Jerry Rawlings and Tanzania’s former Prime Minister Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim.
Rev. Fr. Godfrey Nzamujo, founder and Director-General of Songhai Farms in Benin Republic, will chair the event. Known for his pioneering efforts in agricultural production and sustainability, Nzamujo will share insights into innovative farming practices, such as the use of maggots to feed fish and the development of value-added agricultural products like jams, syrups, soaps, and baked goods.
Other participants include Ms. Mira Mehta, CEO of a tomato processing company based in Jos, and Architect Kabir Ibrahim, National President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN). Government officials such as Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Senator Abubakar Kyari, and members of the National Assembly’s agriculture committees will also be in attendance.
Additionally, representatives of market associations, small and medium enterprises, civil society organizations, development partners, and diplomats are expected to attend the open-to-the-public event. The dialogue aims to explore actionable strategies to address hunger and improve food security across Nigeria.
