The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining the current pace of infrastructural development throughout the state.
He made this declaration during the inauguration of a newly constructed hospital road in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government, on Tuesday, promising the residents of the area additional projects to stimulate economic growth.
Governor Abiodun stated that his administration has completed over 600 kilometers of roads across the state in the past five years, with plans to commission more roads in Iperu and Ilaro later in the week.
Highlighting that the Ogijo community is a pivotal industrial area in the state with gas articulation, the governor mentioned that his administration successfully resolved longstanding electricity challenges by providing transformers and other electrical accessories.
Governor Abiodun emphasized that the construction of the road fulfilled a promise made during his visit to the area a year ago. Despite challenges faced by the contractors during construction, they overcame them and completed the project on schedule.
He underscored that road infrastructure is a crucial catalyst for development, asserting that the newly commissioned road would bolster commercial activities in the area and benefit various communities.
Governor Abiodun assured the community of continued development, urging the local traditional ruler, local government chairman, community development associations, and other stakeholders to collaborate on identifying priority projects for immediate implementation.
Reiterating his commitment to fulfilling promises, Governor Abiodun stated that the road commissioning marked the beginning of a series of projects to commemorate the first year of his second term in office.
He expressed gratitude to traditional rulers and residents for their unwavering support, ensuring that incomplete projects that add value to the people will be finished without neglecting any part of the state.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, lauded the state government’s dedication to infrastructural development evident in the commissioning of the Hospital Road, highlighting that roads are essential for socio-economic progress.
Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, Mr. Afolabi Odulate, commended the construction of the road, a request he had made to the governor, and emphasized the council’s support for the state government in constructing numerous roads in various communities.
Representing the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, Ologijo of Ogijoland, Oba Kezeem Gbadamosi, acknowledged the area’s neglect by previous administrations despite being an industrial hub. With the road’s commissioning, he noted a positive change in the community’s infrastructure.
While drawing attention to other dilapidated roads, the monarch appreciated the state government for the well-constructed road with proper drainage systems, highlighting the community’s benefit from government projects in education, water, and electrification.
