Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced plans to enhance the state’s economy by leveraging the Adire fabric industry. At the unveiling of the Adire Osun Festival official logo, Adeleke emphasized the state’s cultural and economic potential as the home of Adire, expressing his commitment to spreading its influence across Nigeria and beyond.
The governor revealed plans for a sector-focused policy aimed at encouraging entrepreneurs in the Adire industry. “We are committed to supporting and promoting this unique brand. Annually, our administration will host Adire industry events to advance stakeholders. Starting in 2025, we will build the capacity of industry players to ensure they gain a stronger market presence,” he said.
Adeleke also pledged to support market expansion and innovation in Adire design, positioning the fabric as a significant revenue generator for Osun State.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative Economy, Events, and Entertainment, Tunde Laface, highlighted the global appeal of Adire, describing it as a cultural trend with vast economic potential. He announced the Adire Osun Street Carnival, which will involve all zones and local governments in the state, as the centerpiece of the festival.
“This initiative will not only boost Osun’s culture and tourism prospects but also create empowerment opportunities for our youth, making it a major revenue earner for the state,” Laface added.
