Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his commitment to the state’s N100 billion infrastructural development plan, despite facing opposition and blackmail from critics. The governor made this declaration during the commissioning of the Iresi/Otan Ayegbaju township roads, which had been neglected for over four decades.
Speaking at the event, Adeleke highlighted the historical significance of the project. “Today, we open for public use a historic road that has been in a state of disrepair since the Second Republic. For 44 years, this road remained unattended. I thank God that our administration has broken this jinx,” he said. The project includes 7.5 kilometres of roads—3 kilometres of Iresi township roads and 4.5 kilometres connecting Otan Ayegbaju and Iresi.
Governor Adeleke emphasized his administration’s commitment to development beyond politics. “Our administration opposes the politicisation of development. We are determined to upgrade Osun’s infrastructure across all sectors. We will not succumb to political blackmail from those who failed our people for decades,” he asserted.
In addition to the road project, Adeleke also commissioned the Cooperative College in Ode-Omu, a facility that had been abandoned for 12 years. The governor reiterated his administration’s focus on reviving abandoned projects and addressing the developmental gaps left by previous administrations.
