The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State Council has initiated the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for councillorship positions across the 369 wards in the state in anticipation of the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for October 2024.
According to a statement released by Borono Bassey, the State Publicity Secretary, the exercise commenced on Friday, July 19, and will conclude on Wednesday, July 24. Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms will be available for collection on Saturdays between 9 am and 3 pm.
Elder Aniekan Akpan, the party chairman, has urged all prospective candidates to take advantage of this window to obtain the forms. He assured aspirants that the party is committed to ensuring fairness, transparency, and adherence to guidelines throughout the entire process.
“The Chairman, Rt. Hon. (Eld) Aniekan Akpan has affirmed our commitment to a successful electoral process,” Bassey stated. “Following the commencement of Form sales, we will proceed with submissions within the stipulated dates, followed by candidate screenings.”
