Several distinguished individuals from the northern region have distanced themselves from the statements attributed to former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal regarding President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Acting through the Northern Congress for Change (NCC), this group has made it clear that Lawal does not represent the interests of the North and that his claims lack credibility.
During a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, Dr. Ben Amodu, the convener of the group, highlighted that President Tinubu has already achieved more in less than a year in office compared to his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari. Amodu emphasized that the current administration has shown a strong commitment to inclusive governance, effectively balancing the various socio-political and religious dynamics of the country.

The group pointed fingers at corrupt individuals for orchestrating a smear campaign against the President, asserting that their efforts would be futile in the face of a government striving for prosperity.
Despite facing strong opposition from unpatriotic elements benefiting from the corrupt subsidy system, President Tinubu remains resolute in pursuing his comprehensive agenda, undeterred by the cacophony of criticism from those seeking to maintain the status quo.
Under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is witnessing unprecedented economic growth. The administration’s policies have attracted foreign investments, boosted domestic production, and generated employment opportunities. The President’s dedication to diversifying the economy has yielded positive outcomes, with sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and technology thriving. The country is now on a trajectory towards self-sufficiency and reduced reliance on oil revenue.

The group commended the Group CEO of NNPC Limited, Mr. Mele Kyari, for his transformative efforts in the oil sector, which have positioned Nigeria for economic prosperity.
It was strongly emphasized that David Babachir Lawal’s criticisms are not only misguided but also hypocritical. Given his involvement in the grass-cutting scandal and his failed support for Peter Obi, Lawal lacks the moral authority to critique President Tinubu’s administration. His remarks are seen as a desperate attempt to divert attention from his failures and those of his preferred candidate.
It is crucial to recognize that progress and transformation often face stubborn opposition. The criticisms raised by Babachir David Lawal exemplify this challenge, where vested interests and reactionary forces attempt to hinder progress.

However, it is essential not to allow the discordant voices of the past to impede the remarkable advancements being made in the present. As we look towards the future, Nigeria holds promising opportunities for growth and development. With the implementation of sound policies and continued support from the populace, the nation can overcome any obstacles and move towards a brighter future.
The Northern Congress for Change urges Nigerians to dismiss the baseless claims made by David Babachir Lawal and focus on the tangible progress and significant achievements under President Tinubu’s visionary leadership.
It is crucial to subject Lawal’s statements to rigorous scrutiny, considering his controversial past and the repercussions of his previous associations and actions marked by divisiveness.
