BRGIE Warns Southeast Governors Against Biafra Negotiations and Nnamdi Kanu Release Talks
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsappShare on EmailShare on Telegram

The Biafran Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) has issued a stern warning to the governors and leaders of the Southeast region, advising them to refrain from engaging in negotiations regarding the declaration of Biafra and the release of Nnamdi Kanu in conjunction with Nigeria.
Simon Ekpa, the Prime Minister of BRGIE, conveyed this message in an official statement on Sunday through his designated communication channel.
This cautionary directive comes in response to the recent expressions of support for Nnamdi Kanu’s release by Southeast governors, regional groups, and Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the upcoming 2023 election.

Nonetheless, BRGIE, under the leadership of Ekpa, has explicitly warned the Southeast governors and leaders against pursuing a political resolution and Biafra Liberation due to their lack of authority.
Ekpa emphasized that it is exclusively within BRGIE’s jurisdiction to advocate for the release of Kanu and the formal declaration of Biafra.

He underscored that individuals purporting to negotiate for Nnamdi Kanu’s release are actively impeding the progress of Biafra’s liberation.
“Those self-serving politicians and traditional rulers who have suddenly emerged advocating for negotiations with Nigeria, subsequent to undermining the cause of Biafra’s liberation, are hereby prohibited from speaking further. This ultimatum is final, and none of them possess the mandate to represent Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or the Biafran people.”We will not entertain any negotiations moving forward, starting from tonight (Sunday).
“The Biafra Republic Government In Exile retains sole legitimacy in this matter. Those opportunistic figures seeking the limelight and advocating for negotiations should desist or face consequences. The Biafran people are resolute,” he declared.

It is worth noting that the recent clamor for Kanu’s release gained momentum following a meeting among Southeast governors in Enugu state last week. Governor Hope Uzodinma, in a statement on July 3, 2024, announced the governor’s decision to seek an audience with President Bola Tinubu to secure Kanu’s liberation.

The Biafran Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) reiterates its stance on exclusive authority for advocating the release of Nnamdi Kanu and the formal declaration of Biafra. Simon Ekpa emphasizes that Southeast governors and leaders lack the mandate to engage in negotiations regarding Biafra and Kanu’s release. BRGIE warns against any further attempts by self-serving politicians and traditional rulers to undermine the cause of Biafra’s liberation. The ultimatum issued by BRGIE is final, and individuals not authorized by the government in exile will face consequences if they continue to advocate for negotiations. The Biafran people stand firm in their support for BRGIE and its leadership in matters concerning Kanu and the quest for Biafra’s independence.
