The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has made a strong appeal to the federal government, urging it to urgently address the pressing issues of insecurity and economic hardship that are affecting the country. This call was made by CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh in a special message sent to Muslims celebrating Eid-ul-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In his message, Archbishop Okoh highlighted the critical need for the government to focus on improving security and alleviating economic difficulties that have been causing widespread suffering among Nigerians. He stressed that these issues are of utmost importance and require immediate attention from the federal government.
Okoh pointed out that many Nigerians are struggling with the impacts of insecurity and economic instability, which have disrupted their daily lives and well-being.
Archbishop Okoh also emphasized the importance of implementing policies that will bring relief to the populace and ensure that justice and fairness are upheld across all segments of society.
He believes that the government must prioritize these areas to help restore hope and improve the quality of life for Nigerian citizens. According to Okoh, addressing these challenges effectively will help build trust in the government and promote a more equitable society.
In addition to calling for government action, Okoh underscored the role of peace and understanding in fostering a harmonious society. He urged religious leaders from all faiths to continue promoting messages of tolerance and coexistence. By encouraging these values, Okoh believes that Nigeria can overcome divisions and work towards a more united and peaceful nation.
Reflecting on the significance of Eid-ul-Maulud, Archbishop Okoh expressed hope that the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will serve as an inspiration for Nigerians. He suggested that the principles of justice, peace, and unity emphasized during this celebration should guide the actions and attitudes of people across the country. Okoh conveyed that these teachings could play a crucial role in motivating individuals to contribute positively to the nation’s progress.
Archbishop Okoh also reiterated that Nigeria’s strength lies in its rich cultural and religious diversity. He stressed that this diversity should be seen as a source of unity rather than division. By fostering solidarity among all citizens, Okoh believes that Nigeria can harness its diverse strengths to address its challenges effectively.
CAN’s message highlights the urgent need for the government to address insecurity and economic difficulties while also promoting peace and unity.
