Deputy Senate President Jubrin Barau has expressed his strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his recent approval of the North West Development Commission Bill. This significant legislative development comes as a relief to the North West region, which has faced extensive infrastructure challenges exacerbated by insurgent activities, particularly from Boko Haram.

In a statement delivered to journalists last night, Barau, who represents Kano North and was the primary sponsor of the bill, lauded President Tinubu’s decision to sign the bill into law. This new legislation paved the way for the establishment of a federal government intervention agency dedicated to addressing and improving the deteriorating state of infrastructure in the North West.

Barau highlighted the critical importance of this commission, noting its role in tackling the extensive damage inflicted upon the region. “The signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law by President Tinubu marks a transformative moment for our region,” Barau stated.

“Our area, which plays a crucial role in national food production, has been severely affected by Boko Haram’s destructive activities. These insurgent actions have devastated vital sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure. The creation of this commission is a crucial step towards the rehabilitation and enhancement of these essential services.”

The Deputy Senate President emphasized that the North West Development Commission will focus on rebuilding the infrastructure and revitalizing the region, thereby contributing to its overall development and stability. “This commission is not just a governmental initiative; it is a beacon of hope for the people of the North West. It signifies a commitment to addressing the long-standing issues that have hampered our progress and to creating a better future for our communities.”

Barau also acknowledged the broader implications of this development for the country as a whole. He noted, “President Tinubu’s decision to support this bill demonstrates his deep commitment to the entire nation. The challenges faced by the North West are not isolated; they have repercussions for the entire country. By addressing these issues, the President is contributing to the national good and reinforcing the interconnectedness of our regions.”

Reflecting on the President’s track record, Barau pointed out the positive impact of Tinubu’s previous governance experiences. “We have witnessed the positive changes and developments during President Tinubu’s tenure in Lagos. His efforts there have shown that he is capable of driving significant progress. This new initiative further confirms his dedication to effective governance and his determination to improve the lives of Nigerians across all regions.”

Barau’s comments also included a call for unity and support for the President’s administration. “It is essential for all Nigerians to come together and support President Tinubu in his endeavors. His recent actions are indicative of his commitment to leading the country with foresight and goodwill. We should remain patient and supportive as he continues to address the nation’s challenges.”

He further urged the public to remain focused on the positive outcomes of the President’s policies and to ignore any attempts to distract or undermine his efforts. “This is just the beginning of President Tinubu’s term, and we must give him the time and space to implement his vision effectively. Let us remain patient and supportive, and continue to pray for his success. Building a nation takes time, and we should be mindful of the progress being made rather than allowing detractors to sow discord.”

Deputy Senate President Jubrin Barau’s comments reflect a strong endorsement of President Tinubu’s recent legislative action. The establishment of the North West Development Commission represents a crucial step towards addressing the infrastructure deficits in the North West, providing a pathway for recovery and development in a region deeply affected by conflict. As the country moves forward, Barau’s call for unity and support underscores the collective effort needed to achieve meaningful progress and stability.
