Edo Election: PDP Supporters Unite in Massive Rally to Back Asue Ighodalo

Thousands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) support groups paraded through the city center in the state capital, Benin City, to express solidarity with the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie.
The procession resulted in significant congestion in the surrounding streets, including the Government Reservation Area (GRA), for several hours.
The organizers of the demonstration deemed the recent court ruling on the party’s primary election as unjust and vowed to persevere, urging the state’s residents to remain steadfast in their support for the PDP and Ighodalo in the upcoming September 21 election.

Addressing the crowd, one of the support group leaders, Austin Osakue, declared: “Do not be swayed, we shall not capitulate, we shall not retreat, we shall not be deterred by their falsehoods.
“My message is that to emerge victorious in an election, ballots must be cast. We are familiar with Asue Ighodalo, just as we are familiar with Osarodion Ogie; both exemplify humility. When a person displays humility, even deities would serve him.
“In this election, no one should feel intimidated. Let them parade court rulings, but as you have heard, there is no substance in those rulings. Instead of engaging in electoral campaigns, they revel in legal victories, yet they are unable to campaign due to the liability of their candidate. Armed with our voter cards, we shall hold them accountable.”

Ighodalo, accompanied by his running mate, Ogie, and other supporters, proclaimed: “The time has arrived for our joy to persist, for our labor to increase, and for our pockets to be filled. By the grace of God, come September when you have cast your votes for me and Ogie, greater progress shall ensue.
“I urge you to stand firm, to remain jubilant, and to fear nothing, for God is overseeing all. Let everyone prepare their cards so that on September 21, we can vote for the PDP, ensuring that the votes are tallied accurately, and we will follow through to the collation center until our victory is announced, propelling the state to further prosperity. Fear not.”

The solidarity march was attended by members and leaders of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, including its Director General, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen; Deputy Director General, John Yakubu; Deputy Director of Media and Publicity, Olu Martins; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, and other dignitaries.
The overwhelming show of support for Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie in the recent rally signifies the unwavering dedication of the PDP supporters in Edo State. The unity and determination displayed by the party faithful are a testament to their belief in the leadership and vision of the candidates. As the campaign intensifies leading up to the September 21 election, it is crucial for the supporters to maintain this momentum and enthusiasm.

The resolute message delivered by Austin Osakue resonated with the crowd, emphasizing the importance of casting their votes and standing firm in the face of challenges. The call for accountability and vigilance during the electoral process highlights the commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent election outcome. The emphasis on humility and integrity in leadership sets a standard for the candidates to uphold as they seek to serve the people of Edo State.
As the campaign progresses, it is essential for the PDP supporters to continue spreading the message of unity and progress. Engaging with voters, addressing their concerns, and showcasing the party’s platform will be key in securing victory in the upcoming election. The dedication and passion exhibited by the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council and other party leaders serve as a driving force for the supporters to work tirelessly towards a successful election outcome. Together, united in purpose, the PDP supporters in Edo State are poised to make a significant impact in shaping the future of the state.
