Stoke City has unveiled their latest cohort of academy scholars for the upcoming 2024-2025 season, which includes promising talents such as Nigerian striker Jayden Ogbebor.
The announcement took place during a special event at the bet365 Stadium, where Ogbebor signed a two-year scholarship deal alongside other young prospects.
Academy Director Gareth Owen and staff from various departments attended the celebration, marking the official commitment of players like Connor Day, Oghosaiwi Enabulele, Daniel Eyaife, Elliot Fearn, Laurence Giani, Ryan Liu, Tommy McNally, Pedro Nzau, Sanchez Phillips, Owen Powell, and Jensen Tortoishell to their scholarship agreements.
According to Premier League regulations, all players in their U17 year begin the season under a scholarship agreement before becoming eligible to sign their first professional contract after turning 17.
Ogbebor, a six-foot-plus forward, joined Stoke City’s academy at the U13 level following grassroots football.
Known for his adeptness as a striker who thrives on playing close to the goal, he has showcased his scoring ability from multiple positions and has represented England at youth levels. During his time in the U18 Premier League, Ogbebor impressed with eight goals in fifteen appearances as a schoolboy and also featured prominently in the U18 Premier League Cup.
The new phase of Jayden Ogbebor’s career officially commenced at Clayton Wood on Monday, July 1st.
