Violence ensued between farmers and herders in Kodomun Community of Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State which has resulted in the tragic loss of at least eight lives, with many others sustaining injuries. The state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, has confirmed the incident, stating that a combined security team has been dispatched to the area to restore order, though no arrests have been made so far.
This clash is an annual occurrence that has claimed numerous lives and caused the destruction of livestock and property worth millions of naira over time. The latest confrontation was reportedly triggered by the killing of a youth in Kodomun by suspected herders.
The crisis is said to have spread to the neighboring communities of Kudiri, Sabonlayi, Kwayine, and Gorogbakai villages. Addressing an expanded meeting at the palace of the Hama Batta, His Royal Majesty Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, the Chairman of Demsa LGA, Akham Jalo, appealed for calm and urged stakeholders to find a lasting solution to this persistent problem.
