Abuja, Nigeria – Former House of Representatives Minority Leader Farouk Aliyu says APC elites will block any attempt to stop President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election, warning that opposition coalitions will fail.
During an interview on Arise News, Aliyu accused political actors of plotting to ensure the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Tinubu lose power in the next election cycle.
Farouk Aliyu stated the APC does not fear opposition parties in Tinubu’s re-election, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but will work tirelessly to deny them political advantage ahead of the 2027 polls.
“We have no problem with opposition. We respect them, but politically, we shall ensure they don’t gain influence,” Aliyu said.
He recalled how members of the current ruling elite once united to remove former President Goodluck Jonathan, stressing that similar collaboration will safeguard Tinubu’s political future.
Aliyu explained that Nigeria’s political elites rarely fight among themselves, while the masses suffer consequences of political rivalry they barely understand.
“At the elite level, there is no Muslim or Christian; we are not enemies. Sadly, the masses fight,” he added.
He maintained that constructive opposition strengthens democracy, but insisted the APC will respond decisively to political challenges threatening its dominance before the 2027 general elections.
