The Super Eagles have experienced a decline in the latest FIFA rankings, falling to the 39th position from their previous rank of 38th. Meanwhile, Spain, the newly crowned Champions of Europe, has ascended five places to claim the 3rd position globally.
The Super Eagles who are without a manager following Finidi George’s resignation, the Super Eagles are to be ranked within the top five teams in Africa. Morocco, ranked 14th in the world, remains the top-ranked team in Africa, a position reinforced by their impressive semi-final run in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Following closely behind are the Teranga Lions of Senegal, who are placed 19th globally. Egypt, led by Mo Salah, holds the 36th position in the world, while Ivory Coast, captained by Sebastien Haller, is positioned 38th globally, placing them third and fourth in Africa, respectively. Nigeria retains its spot in the top five in Africa, despite the slight drop in global rankings.
The top ten teams in Africa also include Tunisia (41), Algeria (46), Cameroon (51), Mali (53), and South Africa (57). On the global stage, EURO 2024 winners Spain have made a significant leap from eighth to third, reflecting their recent success. Similarly, England, the runners-up, have also seen an improvement in their ranking, moving up to fourth place. France has secured their victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup while remaining in second place.
