Malami’s convoy was attacked in Birnin Kebbi occurred when suspected thugs assaulted vehicles belonging to Abubakar Malami’s entourage.
The incident, described as the Malami convoy attack in Birnin Kebbi, happened on Old NITEL Road after a condolence visit.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that armed thugs wielding stones and dangerous weapons vandalised several vehicles belonging to Malami’s convoy.
Security operatives quickly deployed to Old NITEL Road, Malami’s residence, and APC headquarters to immediately prevent escalating violence.
Reacting after the attack, Malami described the incident as painful and unfortunate, condemning the destruction caused by thugs.
The APC, through spokesperson Isa Abubakar As-Salafi, condemned the attack and promised investigations into the perpetrators’ identities.
He urged politicians and stakeholders to respect peace, warning against provocative actions that could threaten Kebbi’s fragile stability.
Commissioner of Police Bello M. Sani confirmed investigations had begun following an emergency security meeting at the Government House.
He warned political parties against staging unauthorised gatherings, stressing INEC had not officially lifted restrictions on campaigns.
