President Bola Tinubu formally welcomed former President of the Senate, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, into the All Progressives Peoples Congress (APC) on Wednesday. Anyim, who previously served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, recently made the decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Anyim was introduced to President Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja by the Chairman of South-East Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, along with his Ebonyi State counterpart, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru.
It is worth noting that Senator Anyim had expressed his intention to leave the main opposition party in March 2023, when he instructed his supporters in Ebonyi State to vote for Nwifuru, who was then the gubernatorial candidate of the APC.
After the meeting with President Tinubu, Anyim informed reporters that his decision to join the APC was motivated by his desire to contribute positively to the development of the country.
