The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has disclosed that the primary objective of the ruling party in the 2027 general elections will be to secure victories in more states and ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
Ganduje made this revelation during his address at the inaugural policy round table organized by the APC Professionals Forum in preparation for the one-year anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration, which took place in Abuja on Tuesday.
The former governor of Kano State further contended that Nigeria’s economy has undergone a transformation into a credit-based consumer economy that will enhance agriculture, specifically focusing on dry season farming. This transformation is expected to have a positive impact on food security, food prices, essential infrastructure, and educational access, among other benefits.
Regarding the party’s objectives for the 2027 general elections, Ganduje stated: “Although the election period has not yet arrived, we are revitalizing the party to ensure that by 2027, we will maintain and secure new state governors, as well as the re-election of Mr. President, to continue implementing his government’s policies and programs.
“We have also established a Reconciliation Committee at the national level to resolve any disputes among party members, and similar committees will be set up at the state, local government, and ward levels,” he added.
While outlining the achievements of the current administration, he mentioned: “With the economy transitioning towards renewable and sustainable energy sources, the utilization of affordable and clean Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has now become a reality under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
“In terms of infrastructure, President Tinubu has approved the construction, completion, and rehabilitation of numerous road projects nationwide, including the Kano – Abuja Road, Kano – Eastern Bypass Road Project, the 700 km Lagos – Calabar Coastal Road, the 1000 km Badagry – Sokoto Road, as well as the development of 3500 Units of Renewed Hope Housing Cities and Estates currently underway in 13 states across the country.
“In the coming days, the Students Loan Fund will be operational, providing Nigerian youth with easier access to higher education by enabling them to apply for funds from the scheme.
“Regarding power supply, there has been a notable increase in the country’s transmission capacity, now reaching a peak of 14000 megawatts. Furthermore, we are in the process of restructuring our party to become a genuinely grassroots progressive party.
“We have instructed our State Chapters to collaborate with their respective governors and other stakeholders to establish fully operational offices in every political ward and state, ensuring that our members nationwide have significant representation in their communities,” he concluded.
