The Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Adams, has congratulated Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade on his emergence as the new Alaafin of Oyo. Adams described the appointment as a blessing to the Oyo Kingdom and the Yoruba race as a whole.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, Adams commended the Oyo State government, the Oyomesi, and the people of Oyo for ensuring a peaceful resolution to the two-year-long vacancy since the demise of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
“The late Oba Adeyemi left an indelible mark on the cultural and traditional heritage of Yoruba land. Prince Owoade’s emergence is a new chapter of hope and progress for the Oyo Kingdom and the Yoruba race worldwide,” Adams said.
He expressed optimism about Prince Owoade’s ability to unite the aggrieved parties, restore the town’s glory, and promote the traditions and culture of the Yoruba people. He emphasized that Oyo’s cultural significance as the pride of the Yoruba race would be upheld under the new ruler’s reign.
Prince Owoade, a member of the royal Owoade-Agunloye family, is expected to bring a wealth of experience, education, and humility to the throne, ensuring Oyo Kingdom’s development and unity.
Adams concluded by urging the Alaafin-elect to dedicate his leadership to peace, prosperity, and the preservation of Yoruba traditions, marking a new era for the historic Oyo Kingdom.
