The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has criticized certain individuals in Nigeria who are undermining the administration of President Bola Tinubu over his policies since he assumed office. The All Progressives Congress (APC) leader stated on Wednesday that the elimination of fuel subsidies and the integration of official and parallel exchange rates were bold measures taken by the Nigerian leader to enhance the country’s economy.
Nevertheless, Uzodimma lamented that instead of recognizing the President’s initiatives, some prominent Nigerians were actively disparaging his administration through the media. The Imo State governor pointed out that the three main presidential candidates in the 2023 general elections pledged to abolish the fuel subsidy regime, but the other two candidates who lost to Tinubu are now pretending otherwise.
Uzodimma called on the media to embrace President Tinubu’s vision for economic recovery rather than allowing naysayers to dominate the media landscape. He emphasized that Tinubu’s administration possesses the vision and capability to revive Nigeria’s economy and position it as the fastest-growing in Africa.
Furthermore, he expressed confidence that the current economic strategies of the federal government under Tinubu’s leadership would steer Nigeria towards prosperity. Uzodimma underscored the importance of journalists articulating the advantages of these policies to Nigerians rather than emphasizing the negative impacts.
He stated: “Although the populace is currently facing economic challenges due to the policies, they will ultimately reap the rewards. Every insightful Nigerian recognizes that President Tinubu’s economic policies are robust and will rescue the country in due time.”
The governor encouraged Nigerians to exercise patience with President Tinubu’s administration, likening the current difficulties to birth pangs that will subside once the baby is born.
