A 46-year-old man, Odebamowo Goke, appeared before the Iyaganku Magistrate Court in Ibadan on Friday over allegations of stealing a Nokia C12 mobile phone valued at ₦215,000. The incident reportedly occurred on November 27, at about 10:00a.m., in the Challenge area of the city.
The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft. Inspector Olalekan Adegbite, the prosecuting officer, claimed that the stolen phone belonged to Babatunde Okeowo. The act was said to violate Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
During the court proceedings, Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho set bail at ₦100,000, requiring two reliable sureties of equal value. The court directed that the sureties provide verifiable documentation to guarantee their reliability.
The defendant was advised to comply with the bail conditions to avoid continued detention. The magistrate emphasized the importance of following due process and set February 4, 2025, as the date for the next hearing.
