The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has directed all tertiary institutions in the country to disclose all admissions conducted outside its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) before 2017 within a one-month period.
In a press briefing held in Abuja on behalf of the Board’s Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, the Public Communication Advisor for JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, stated that this directive is aimed at enhancing transparency and fairness in the admissions process.
Dr. Benjamin explained that the Board has become aware of the tendency of certain institutions to admit candidates outside the approved Central Admissions Processing System platform and then seek to legitimize these illegal admissions.
To address this issue, the Board has decided that all institutions must disclose all candidates illegally admitted prior to 2017, whose records are in their system, within the next one-month, beginning from August 1st, 2024.
Furthermore, the Board has stated that any admission purportedly given prior to 2017 will no longer be recognized or condoned unless disclosed within this one-month window.
This directive is intended to address the issue of unlawful admissions and the falsification of records, while also ensuring adherence to the provisions of the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
