Jamata Fire Disaster: Kogi State Emergency Management Agency Visit Victims

The Jamata Fire Disaster struck with devastating consequences, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. To address the plight of the victims, the State Emergency Management Agency, under the leadership of the Executive Secretary Alh Mouktar Atimah, sprang into action, conducting an on-the-ground assessment of the situation.
The visit to the fire-ravaged area by key government officials, including the Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Ademu, served as a demonstration of the state’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and safety of its citizens. The immediate response to the disaster underscored the government’s proactive approach to managing crises within the state.


The scene of the fire disaster in Jamata painted a grim picture of destruction, with properties and goods worth millions of naira going up in flames. The inferno left a significant number of people displaced from their homes, adding to the already dire situation faced by the victims.
In the face of adversity, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency reassured the victims that the government stood in solidarity with them during this challenging period. The government pledged its support to the victims, offering assistance in every possible way to alleviate their suffering.


During the assessment visit, the Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja Local Government exemplified leadership and compassion by donating a substantial sum of One Million naira to the victims. His gesture of generosity symbolized the government’s commitment to standing by the affected community in their time of need.
The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, represented by the Assembly Member for Lokoja 1, Hon. Tijanni Ebayo, extended heartfelt condolences to the victims of the fire disaster. He assured the victims of timely government support, emphasizing the importance of coming together as a community to overcome challenges.


The Royal father of Jamata community, HRH Mall. Ibrahim Okura Mammud, expressed gratitude for the state government’s swift response through the State Emergency Management Agency. He conveyed the community’s faith and confidence in the government’s ability to provide assistance and support to those affected by the disaster.
The Special Adviser to the State Governor on State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Sandra Musa, and the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Emergency Management, Alh. Shuaibu Mohammed, were also present during the assessment visit, demonstrating the government’s multi-faceted approach to disaster relief efforts.
