On Monday, the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, officiated the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected 21 local government chairpersons within the state. The state electoral commission announced that candidates from the All Progressives Congress emerged victorious in the elections conducted on Saturday.
The ceremony took place at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, and was attended by the governor along with prominent political figures from the state. Umar Abubakar, the Chief Judge of the state, administered the oath of office to the elected chairpersons, who are set to serve a term of three years.
In his address, the governor urged the chairpersons to uphold integrity and ensure the delivery of democratic benefits at the grassroots level. He remarked, “With your swearing-in complete, I expect you to begin your duties immediately and make a positive impact within your communities. “You should return home and administer the oath to your councillors to ensure a prompt and effective start to work across all wards in the state. “I assure you of my full support in your endeavors.”
The governor also encouraged the chairpersons to engage their community members to ensure that the benefits of their leadership are felt widely. In a prompt response, the state government provided Hilux operational vehicles to the chairmen and their deputies.
