The Kogi State Bureau of Lands Development has commenced a statewide property enumeration exercise aimed at fostering ownership clarity and creating a robust database of all properties across the state. This initiative, spearheaded by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration, is designed to attract investments, enhance socio-economic development, and improve security in the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Baiyegusi Taiwo, speaking on behalf of Director General Alhaji Abdulmalik Teina, emphasized the importance of the exercise in achieving the governor’s vision of positioning Kogi as an economic and investment hub. He explained that the enumeration would streamline property ownership processes, reduce disputes, and encourage both local and foreign investments.
“Property enumeration will provide accurate data for planning, economic development, and security measures,” Teina noted. He assured residents that the exercise is free and not intended as a witch-hunt but as a tool to facilitate sustainable development.
Teina urged citizens to cooperate with the enumerators by providing necessary information about their properties. He warned against offering payments to enumerators, reiterating that the government had made the process completely cost-free to ensure broad participation.
