Kwankwaso Faces NNPP Backlash in Kano Emirate Upheaval
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsappShare on EmailShare on Telegram

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has officially disavowed their national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, due to his correspondence with party members in the National Assembly regarding the Kano Emirate dispute.
In a letter dated July 2, 2024, purportedly signed by Dr. Ajuji Ahmed and addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Kwankwaso urged NNPP federal lawmakers to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s administration on the Kano Emirate conflict.
The official statement, jointly signed by NNPP National Chairman Agbo Gilbert Major and National Secretary Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, titled ‘Re: Need for NNPP Federal Lawmakers to make urgent and concerted efforts to end immediately the siege on Kano by agents of federal government,’ emphasized that Kwankwaso’s directive was not sanctioned by the party.

The letter advised lawmakers to dismiss Kwankwaso’s instructions and highlighted that the party’s core focus is on the progress and welfare of Nigerians. It also stressed that the issue is sub judice and that any intervention by the National Assembly could exacerbate the situation in Kano.
Given the escalating tensions in Kano due to actions by the State Government, the letter underscored the necessity for heightened security measures to prevent lawlessness. It urged the National Assembly to prioritize safeguarding the lives and properties of citizens.

The NNPP affirmed its commitment to avoiding conflicts with federal agencies, particularly security bodies, and emphasized that any communication from Dr. Ajuji Ahmed should be disregarded.
The NNPP reiterated its stance on maintaining peace and stability in the region, urging all parties involved to seek amicable resolutions through dialogue and legal channels. The party emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and respecting the judicial process in addressing the Kano Emirate upheaval. The NNPP stands firm on its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution in the Kano Emirate upheaval.
The need for peaceful conflict resolution in the Kano Emirate upheaval cannot be overstated. All parties involved must prioritize dialogue and legal means to seek amicable solutions. Upholding the rule of law and respecting the judicial process is crucial in addressing the situation in Kano.
