Prominent lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has called on Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, to take decisive action against criminal activities plaguing the state.
Ejiofor’s appeal follows a tragic attack on Monday in Ihiala, where gunmen killed two security operatives and five residents. In a statement, he emphasized the urgency of addressing the security crisis, saying, “The events in Ihiala are a reminder of the siege our state is under. The loss of innocent lives to these atrocities is tragic. My heart bleeds!”
The lawyer criticized what he described as an overreliance on public narratives, urging the governor to prioritize concrete measures against the perpetrators.
“Anambra is in dire straits, and the time has come for Governor Soludo to shift focus from media narratives to tackling the real perpetrators desecrating our land,” Ejiofor said.
He also called for collective action from the people of Anambra, stressing that the criminals terrorizing the state often find refuge within local communities.
“These criminals are no strangers – they are shielded by those in our communities. Our resolve must be resolute. It is unacceptable to continue tolerating the political compromises that endanger our people,” he added.
Ejiofor urged the state government to deploy every available resource to ensure the safety and security of its residents, stating, “The time for lip service is over. Enough is enough. We must act now with unity, strength, and an unyielding commitment to reclaim our state from these evil forces.”
He concluded with a message of hope, encouraging collective efforts to restore peace and security across Anambra: “Together, we can restore the peace and security our people deserve.”
