The Federal Government has issued a statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the shooting of an

Immigration officer in Niger State.

According to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, further investigations have revealed that the officer was

hit by a stray bullet.

This development contradicts earlier reports suggesting that the Immigration officer was intentionally shot by a

Chinese businessman in Minna, Niger State. The Minister’s statement emphasized that the shooting was not carried

out on the orders of the Chinese company or its employee.

The government has launched a full-scale investigation into the incident, collaborating with other security agencies to

unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The Minister assured that anyone found culpable would be

brought to book.

The Minister’s statement highlighted the importance of fostering strong partnerships with foreign nationals to build

sustainable collaboration for social economic development.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the government has urged the public to remain calm and patient
