The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Epe Branch, has praised Dangote Refinery for its recent reduction in petrol and diesel prices, describing the move as a significant relief for Nigerians facing economic challenges. The commendation was made in a statement issued by the branch chairman, Dr. S.O. Jimoh, who highlighted the refinery’s critical role in driving national development.
According to Jimoh, the refinery, located in Epe’s Ibeju-Lekki axis, operates as both a profit-driven enterprise and a catalyst for economic growth. He noted that while the primary aim of the refinery is to generate returns for its shareholders, its impact extends far beyond profit-making. The availability of affordable fuel contributes directly to economic stability, the smooth functioning of industrial value chains, and the daily lives of millions of Nigerians.
The NBA applauded the price reduction as a commendable act of corporate social responsibility (CSR) that demonstrates empathy for the struggles of ordinary citizens. Jimoh emphasized that such initiatives reflect a deep understanding of the socio-economic difficulties faced by Nigerians and show how private enterprises can align profitability with public welfare.
The chairman further lauded the visionary leadership of Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, for implementing this bold measure. He described the move as a reflection of Dangote’s commitment to balancing business success with the well-being of the Nigerian people, setting an example for other corporations in the country.
The NBA also reaffirmed its support for partnerships that advance national development and called on other private sector players to emulate Dangote Refinery’s approach to addressing critical issues.
