According to John Enoh, Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment, the “Nigeria First” policy has an estimated yearly economic contribution of ₦3 trillion.
He added that the programme will also help Nigeria’s manufacturing sector develop by almost 20% over the following three years.
He made this statement at the State House in Abuja while briefing State House Correspondents, shortly after the Federal Executive Council meeting.
President Bola Tinubu declared on May 5, 2025, that he would issue an Executive Order to guarantee that Nigerians would only purchase products and services made in Nigeria.
The Minister stressed that the program would reduce imports by roughly 30% and create over 500,000 jobs in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council have directed the Bureau for Public Procurement to communicate the new threshold for procurement of goods and services.
Idris said FEC also noted the need for the private sector players to participate more actively in Nigeria’s economic growth and directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies to deepen their collaboration with the private sector, especially in terms of infrastructure development.
