Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma reported they have killed numerous terrorists, including the son of the terror kingpin during a raid in Zamfara, Bello Turji is currently fleeing for his life.
A number of hostages who were abducted and held captive by Turji were also rescued as a result of the raids.
The accomplishment was made on January 17 during a coordinated operation between the air component and the troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which involved clearance operations along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis, according to a statement released on Sunday by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations of the Armed Forces.
According to the statement, the military killed a large number of terrorists, including the son of infamous terrorist leader Bello Turji, who was hiding on the high ground of Fakai.
The majority of posters were excited when word of his son’s and loyalists’ murders had earlier spread around the Arewa community on X.
The terrorist kingpin was on the run, according to security expert Zagazola Makama, who made the announcement on his verified X account on Saturday night.
According to the statement by the DHQ, the intensity of troops‘ power resulted in high terrorist casualties and their logistics hub destroyed.
“The terrorist leader, Bello Turji, in a gross cowardly act escaped abandoning his son and combatants,” the statement added.
In a related development, the troops said they also destroyed another terrorist kingpin camp known as Idi Mallam along Zango Kagara Forest.
The military claimed to have detained three alleged accomplices and neutralized three terrorists during the encounter.
Additionally, two machine guns and an AK-47 rifle with a magazine that held eleven rounds of 7.62 mm ammo were found by the forces. Among other random objects, 44 sheep and 61 rustled cattle were also saved.
