Finidi George is excited about Rivers United’s strong start to the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The former Super Eagles coach has successfully led the Port Harcourt club to three wins and one draw in their first four matches, showcasing a promising performance that has fans hopeful for the season ahead.

In their latest match on Sunday night, Finidi orchestrated a solid 2-0 victory over his former team, Enyimba. This win not only highlights the team’s growing strength but also moves Rivers United to second place in the league standings, just behind Remo Stars.

The match was a testament to the hard work and strategic planning that Finidi has instilled in the squad.

Following the game, Finidi expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “We are quite happy with our run in the league, even if it’s not 100% perfect.”

He acknowledged the challenges that come with competing in the NPFL, emphasizing that every match is difficult.

“People often think that if you get a draw, it means you’ve won,” he remarked, underlining the competitive nature of the league and the need for consistent effort from his players.

Under Finidi’s leadership, Rivers United has shown significant improvement in its gameplay, and the team has been praised for its tactical discipline and teamwork.

The coach has implemented a training regimen focused on both physical fitness and mental resilience, preparing the players for the rigors of the league.

This approach appears to be paying off, as the team has demonstrated not only skill but also a strong fighting spirit in their matches.

Rivers United’s early success has also reignited excitement among fans, who have shown strong support for the team.

The club has a rich history and a loyal fanbase that eagerly awaits each match. With the team’s current form, hopes are high that they can contend for the league title this season.

Looking ahead, Finidi is focused on maintaining the momentum as they prepare for upcoming fixtures. He knows that while the start has been encouraging, there are still many challenges to face.

“We must stay grounded and keep working hard,” he stated. “Every game counts, and we need to approach each one with the same determination.”

Finidi George’s experience and leadership will be crucial as the team aims to secure their place at the top of the league standings and make a deep run in the competition.

With the season still young, fans and players alike are hopeful for what lies ahead, eager to see how far the team can go under Finidi’s guidance.
