Ogun State Governor, Abiodun, Unveils New Road Projects, Expands State’s Road Network

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced plans to expand the state’s road network by awarding contracts for the construction of the Alagbole-Akute and Akute-Oke-Aro-Ijoko roads in the Ifo Local Government Area
The governor made this disclosure during the commissioning of the Ojodu Abiodun-Denro-Ishasi-Akute Road on Friday. He stated that construction works would commence from Akute towards Oke Aro.
“Within the next few weeks, or a maximum of three weeks, in my determination to ensure this local government assumes a new look, I will award the Alagbole-Akute Road. I will also award the Akute-Ijoko-Oke-Aro Road,” Abiodun said.
The governor emphasized the importance of a robust road network for development, noting that the ongoing construction of the Toyin-Giwa, Akute-Ajuwon, and Akute-Alagbole roads would be completed and commissioned in three months.
Abiodun also highlighted the challenges faced by residents due to the deplorable state of the Ojodu-Abiodun-Denro-Ishasi-Akute Road, saying its reconstruction underscores his administration’s commitment to alleviating their suffering.
“When I assumed office, I visited this local government, noticed the poor state of this road, and promised to reconstruct it. Today, I am proud to say the road has been transformed, bringing relief to the people,” Abiodun noted.
The governor urged residents to maintain the road properly, avoid blocking the drainage, and respect speed breakers installed to prevent reckless driving. He also called on investors to choose Ogun State, assuring them that his administration remains committed to infrastructure development and creating a business-friendly environment.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, noted that the 4.65km road with a 30-meter bridge was designed to enhance connectivity, boost economic growth, and support the overall development of the area while ensuring seamless links to Lagos State.
“This road is a testament to our administration’s commitment to infrastructure development. We are determined to make Ogun State a hub for economic growth and development,” Akinsanya said.
Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Idris Kusimo, commended the project, describing it as a catalyst for economic growth that would revitalize commercial activities in the area.
