Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka has decided for his future to leave Serbian club Red Star Belgrade with the right offers, a source close to the player has told reporters.
Speculations have been ongoing regarding Olayinka leaving the Serbian champions after one season due to family issues. He enjoyed his one-season spell at the club medaling the Serbian Cup champions and the league title with them in the just-concluded 2023/24 season.
The 28 years old Olayinka, joined Red Star at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season after the end of an illustrious four-year sojourn at Slavia Prague where he netted 50 goals and provided 26 assists in 182 appearances and won seven titles in the league.
The player is however looking forward to testing his ground in another league this summer but it must come with the right offer, the source told our correspondent.
“For now, we will keep observing. If better offers come, he will have to,” the source who preferred to be anonymous told reporters.
He contributed 11 goals and four assists as Red Star Belgrade striker, won the league and cup to complete the domestic double title.
He formed an integral part of their UEFA Champions League campaign even though they were eliminated out at the group stage.
Olayinka’s contributions were enormous but he was in and out of the starting lineup on several outings.
The striker recently revealed how he managed to overcome what seems to be a difficult start to winning two titles with the Serbian club (Red Star Belgrade).
“Coming to Serbia was a major decision I had to make in my career, it was kind of difficult adjusting within the first few matches, I am grateful to God, for how the journey has been so far,” the striker told reporters.
