The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of squandering public funds during his 10-month tenure, urging residents to reject his candidacy in the upcoming governorship election. The opposition party made these claims in a statement issued on Monday by its publicity secretary, Mr. Kennedy Peretei, titled “Ondo State is Not Lucky with Aiyedatiwa.”.
According to the PDP, Aiyedatiwa mismanaged N217.8 million allocated for the renovation of the deputy governor’s lodge, which remains incomplete. The party alleged that Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami has been staying in luxury hotels at the state’s expense instead of residing in his official residence. “The money wasted on hotel accommodation could have easily completed the renovation. Is there still any doubt that this administration should be voted out on November 16?” the PDP alleged. .
Response swiftly, the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) dismissed the allegations as “baseless and untrue.” Mr. Steve Otaloro, the APC’s Director of Publicity, accused the PDP of resorting to lies due to its inability to present a credible alternative. “The PDP’s claims are filled with inaccuracies and misinformation. They achieved nothing during their 12-year rule, and now they attack Governor Aiyedatiwa’s achievements in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic empowerment.”
Otaloro concluded by urging the public to focus on the government’s accomplishments rather than the PDP’s “fabricated tales and propaganda.” He added that the APC remains committed to delivering results for the people of Ondo State despite the opposition’s distractions.
