The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has recently announced that his administration will be providing bursaries and scholarships to students from Ondo State who are studying in universities and Nigerian Law Schools. This decision is aimed at supporting students with financial aid to help them complete their education.
This important announcement was made by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan. It was shared during a meeting with student leaders that took place at the Cocoa Conference Hall in the Governor’s Office in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State, on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by various student leaders from different organizations. These included representatives from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the National Association of University Students (NAUS), the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS), the National Female Students Association, and other student groups from Ondo State. Each of these groups plays a crucial role in representing the interests and concerns of students in different institutions and regions.
During the meeting, the governor responded positively to the concerns and requests raised by these student leaders. He assured them that the process to distribute the bursaries and scholarships had already started and would be completed in a few weeks. This means that students will soon begin receiving the financial support they need.
In addition to discussing bursaries and scholarships, Governor Aiyedatiwa addressed several other important issues that affect students. One of the topics he covered was the provision of buses for student organizations. He acknowledged that transportation is a key concern for many students and promised to look into ways to improve this situation.
The governor also talked about enhancing the electricity supply and improving security on university campuses. Reliable electricity and a safe campus environment are crucial for students to focus on their studies and campus activities. He mentioned that his administration is committed to making improvements in these areas.
Another topic discussed was the creation of job opportunities for students. The governor recognized that many students look for part-time jobs or internships to gain experience and support themselves financially while studying. He assured the student leaders that his administration would work on providing more employment opportunities.
Additionally, the governor spoke about setting up polling units on campuses. This is important for ensuring that students can easily participate in elections and have their voices heard in democratic processes.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that his administration is committed to giving priority to the education sector and addressing the welfare of students and young people. He believes that supporting students is essential for the development of the state and the country as a whole.
The governor also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the students for their peaceful behavior. He appreciated their positive conduct and assured them that his administration would carefully consider and address all other requests made by the student leaders.
