Victor Osimhen is reportedly poised to reject Chelsea’s advances and instead await a decision from Paris Saint-Germain, who are now prepared to finalize their approach regarding his transfer. Chelsea has been pursuing the Nigerian international player throughout the summer, however, their efforts were initially thwarted by Napoli, who maintained that the full £113 million release clause must be paid.
The 25-year-old striker is believed to be a key target for Chelsea as they seek to bolster their attacking options for the 2024/25 season. Osimhen, hailing from Lagos, is among the most coveted forwards in Europe, having attracted interest from clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Liverpool, following his remarkable performances with Napoli.
Despite Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid, PSG has not actively pursued Osimhen, showing hesitance to meet the substantial £113 million asking price, while expressing satisfaction with their current forwards, Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani. Osimhen has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League after establishing himself in Serie A with Napoli and previously in Ligue 1 with Lille, where Chelsea was thought to face stiff competition from PSG.
However, according to Florian Plettenberg, Osimhen appears to be inclined towards joining the French champions, who may now rekindle their interest following a significant injury to one of their strikers.
