The immediate past National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Iyiola Omisore, stated that President Bola Tinubu should not be blamed for the Osun local government funds crisis currently generating political controversy across the state and affecting grassroots governance significantly.
Omisore absolved Tinubu of any responsibility while speaking during an interview on Arise Television, emphasizing the Osun local government funds crisis concerns only state-level governance and workers’ disputes, not presidential intervention or APC national structures.
According to him, the issue remains purely between Osun State Government and local government workers, demanding resolution without politicisation.
“This matter does not concern the general election or the president. It strictly involves the state and councils,” he stressed.
He further explained that the main challenge affecting Osun State governance is the seven-month strike by NULGE members.
The prolonged strike has paralyzed council operations across Osun, preventing effective service delivery and worsening residents’ frustrations at grassroots levels.
Omisore accused the PDP of politicising the crisis, alleging that it obstructed NULGE operations and undermined local governance.
He insisted that blaming Tinubu or APC leadership remains diversionary politics, stressing that accountability rests squarely with Osun’s ruling authorities.
