A member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eme Okoro, has stated that former Senate President Adolphus Wabara remains the recognised chairman of the PDP BoT.
He rejected the appointment of former Senator representing Abia North, Mao Ohuabunwa, as the new chairman of the PDP BoT.
Okoro, who lamented what he described as impunity and disregard for the PDP constitution, said it was illegal to hold a purported inauguration of a new BoT chairman in the private residence of a party member.
The former Secretary to the Abia State Government, reacting to reports of Wabara’s removal, said those who disagree with the majority opinion in PDP should seek alternative platforms rather than remaining to destroy the party that made them.
The BoT member, who dismissed the alleged replacement of Umar Damagun, also frowned at the reported role of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in the crisis rocking the party.
Similarly, a former Commissioner for Housing in Abia State, James Okpara, has declared that the purported removal of Adolphus Wabara as PDP BoT Chairman cannot stand.
Okpara, who also rejected the removal of Umar Damagum as National Chairman of PDP. He criticised those opposing the forthcoming national convention of the party, describing their actions as unpatriotic, illegal, and detrimental to its survival.
“The national convention is the soul of our party. It is the platform where decisions that shape our political direction are made. Any person who claims to love the PDP but is secretly or openly working to stop the convention does not wish the party well,” said Okpara.
