President Tinubu’s One-Year Milestone: Ministers Set to Present Accomplishments and Performance Scorecards

President Tinubu’s ministers will start presenting reports on their performance in office since they were appointed in August 2023.
Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, made this announcement in Abuja on Wednesday during the ministerial sectoral update.
Idris explained that the goal is to update Nigerians on the accomplishments of the Tinubu-led government in its first year.
“The detailed sectoral briefing will commence tomorrow. All ministers will attend to discuss their activities in their respective ministries to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies,” Idris stated.
These consecutive ministerial briefings are part of the evaluation of cabinet members who, after a three-day Cabinet Retreat last November, pledged to consistently show hard work, innovative thinking, dedication, and a strong focus on achieving results.

Tinubu instructed the ministers to meet the high expectations of Nigerians and instructed his Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, to reactivate the monitoring system to assess their performance.
During the press briefing, the information minister also mentioned that Tinubu’s upcoming first anniversary will be celebrated in a simple manner, focusing only on the sectoral briefing.
“There will be no elaborate celebrations for the one year in office, but rather sectoral briefings by the ministers. This aligns with President Tinubu’s aim to enhance efficiency and ensure government spending benefits the people,” he added.

“President Tinubu always stresses the importance of providing useful and timely information to the people because they elected this government. He has directed that information must be shared with the public honestly, promptly, and responsibly.”
George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, highlighted the significant achievements of President Tinubu’s economic reforms within his first year in office.
Akume pointed out that key successes include attracting foreign investments, controlling inflation, and creating job opportunities across various sectors.
He mentioned initiatives such as decentralizing the power sector to allow state governments, corporations, and individuals to generate electricity, as well as the Nigeria Data Protection Bill to safeguard personal data.
Akume discussed the removal of fuel subsidies to combat corruption and inefficiency, as well as the ongoing infrastructure projects to enhance trade and connectivity in the nation.
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, mentioned that the lack of investments in different sectors continues to hinder the nation’s economic growth.
Bagudu emphasized the need for macroeconomic stability to restore investors’ confidence in the economy and boost various sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure.
