Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee each scored twice as Manchester United triumphed 4-0 over Everton in Ruben Amorim’s first Premier League match in charge at Old Trafford on Sunday. Rashford opened the scoring in the 34th minute, capitalizing on Bruno Fernandes’s corner to volley home, with the ball deflecting off Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
The goal boosted United’s confidence, and they extended their lead just seven minutes later. Zirkzee doubled the advantage in the 41st minute, finishing from close range after Amad Diallo intercepted a poor goal kick from Jordan Pickford and set up Fernandes for the assist.
Rashford completed his brace just 20 seconds after the break, running onto a perfectly timed through ball from Diallo, who had been causing havoc for the Everton defense throughout the match. Zirkzee rounded off the victory in the 64th minute when he latched onto a pass from Diallo, who had dispossessed James Tarkowski before charging forward to deliver the assist.
The win lifted Manchester United to ninth in the Premier League, climbing three spots after 13 matches, while Everton remain in 15th place, just two points above the relegation zone. Everton has now gone four matches without scoring, and their attacking struggles continue to hinder their progress.
