The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, has convened a general assembly of Stakeholders scheduled for July 1, 2024, at its headquarters situated at 239-243 along Port Harcourt-Aba expressway Port Harcourt.
In an online memorandum identified by our Correspondent, personally signed by Justice Adolphus Enebeli retd, Chairman/Chief Electoral Commissioner, RSIEC, and dated Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
The invitees to the stakeholder gathering encompass religious organizations, All registered political parties, Professional organizations, Civil Society groups, Non-governmental organizations, Community-based and the Media.
The memorandum instructed all attendees to be seated by 9:45 am.
While the specific topics of discussion for the meeting were not disclosed, it is worth noting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara had pledged that the electoral process for the 23 local government areas, which will elect executive Chairmen and Councillors, will commence promptly, indicating that the term of the Caretaker Committees will be brief.
Fubara made this commitment today during the inauguration of the newly appointed Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 23 local government areas at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt.
