Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has placed a N10 million bounty on each of the gunmen responsible for a deadly attack during a burial ceremony in Ihiala. The announcement came during his condolence visit to the family of the late Bridget Onuchukwu in Umuike, Ubahuekwem, Ihiala Local Government Area.
The tragic incident, confirmed by the police, occurred on Monday when gunmen stormed the Ihiala community, killing nine people, including two security operatives. The attack left the community in shock and mourning.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Soludo expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims,” he said. “We will not rest until the perpetrators of this heinous crime are apprehended. All of them will pay for it.”
He assured the community that the state government and security agencies were working tirelessly to track down the attackers. Soludo also called on members of the public to assist with information, promising the substantial reward for any tip that leads to the arrest of the culprits.
The governor revealed that plans were underway to bolster security in Ihiala and its environs. “Ihiala security is currently being discussed and will be unveiled soon,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to restoring peace and safety in the area.
