South-East Governors Back Tinubu for 2027, Umahi Declares

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has firmly declared that all South-East governors support President Tinubu 2027 re-election.

He made this statement in a video shared on Sunday by @peopleofebonyi_ via Instagram, a regional news channel.

According to Umahi, there is no South-East governor who opposes Tinubu’s second-term bid, regardless of party affiliations.

In fact, Umahi pointed out that Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo States are all aligning with Tinubu’s agenda.

Therefore, he believes the unity among governors demonstrates strong political will to reposition the region ahead of 2027 elections.

Moreover, Umahi asserted that if the presidency rotates to the South-East, his performance qualifies him as the frontrunner.

“When it’s our turn, I should lead because I have delivered results as both governor and federal minister,” he said.

For that reason, Umahi challenged anyone with a contrary view to engage him in a public performance-based political debate.

He stated confidently, “I built Ebonyi from scratch, and I’ve served Nigeria faithfully—so my records are not debatable.”

Furthermore, Umahi maintained that leadership should be based on comparative performance, not merely on political seniority or popularity.

Thus, he advised critics to compare governors across tenures, assess developmental strides, and evaluate impact on regional progress.

Importantly, he added that President Tinubu entrusted him with critical projects, which have directly improved the South-East significantly.

Consequently, Umahi emphasized that political ambition must not be driven by sentiment but rather by strategic engagement and merit.

He advised, “We can’t get the presidency emotionally—we must re-engage with other regions and forge meaningful political partnerships.”

Ultimately, Umahi concluded, “When God says it’s time, nothing can stop it—and who knows, it might even be me.”
