The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully concluded the rehabilitation and re-stringing of the four vandalized towers along the Jos–Gombe 330 Kilovolt (kV) transmission line.
Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, stated in Abuja on Tuesday that these towers were responsible for supplying bulk power to substations in the North-East region.
Mbah mentioned that the re-stringing of the conductors was finalized on Monday, with the contractors successfully reconnecting the jumper on tower 282, ensuring its readiness for the transmission of bulk electricity.
Following the discovery of the vandalised towers on April 22, TCN promptly mobilized contractors and supervising engineers to the site to initiate immediate repairs.Initially, TCN had committed to completing the repairs and restoring supply by May 27, but the collapse of the fourth tower during the re-stringing process caused a delay in the completion.
“The construction of the four towers has now been successfully concluded, and the line is fully prepared for bulk power transmission,”she remarked.
Mbah expressed TCN’s gratitude for the patience and support shown by the governors and residents of the North-Eastern region during the tower reconstruction phase.
