President Bola Tinubu has called on political stakeholders in Rivers State to respect court rulings and uphold the rule
of law to restore peace in the crisis-hit state. This call was made during a meeting with leaders of the Pan-Niger Delta
Forum (PANDEF) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Tinubu emphasized that respect for judicial decisions is fundamental to maintaining democracy, stressing that all
stakeholders must recognize and implement court rulings. He expressed confidence in the judiciary, acknowledging
that human errors can occur but emphasizing that court decisions must be respected.
The President urged PANDEF leaders to take active steps in ensuring that court rulings are enforced, particularly in
Rivers State. He appealed to them to intervene and counsel the governor to pursue the path of peace and stability.
Tinubu likened the Niger Delta region to “the goose that lays the golden egg,” emphasizing the importance of
safeguarding the region’s prosperity. He assured the delegation that his government would not allow Rivers people to
suffer due to political conflicts.
PANDEF leaders, including King Alfred Papapreye Diete-Spiff and Obong Victor Attah, expressed support for Tinubu’s
intervention. Attah cautioned that the political turmoil in Rivers State poses a national security threat, emphasizing the need for urgent resolutions.

The PANDEF delegation commended Tinubu’s governance approach, particularly in areas of power devolution,
infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and fiscal federalism. They urged sustained focus on the region’s
